Insights & Conversations
This page brings together conversations and reflections from my coaching and leadership development work.
At its heart is The Ramblers’ Guide to Leadership, a podcast I make together with fellow leadership coach Amber Rahim. Our conversations are shaped by the programmes we design and deliver together, and by what we see leaders grappling with in real time — often complex, human and anything but linear.
You can find more about Amber and her work at amberrahimcoaching.com.
Alongside the podcast, I occasionally share shorter reflections, links or notes that connect to these conversations or to my broader coaching work.
Where in your leadership do you feel constricted — and where do you feel spacious?
Where in your leadership do you feel constricted — and where do you feel spacious? We often treat abundance as a mindset to adopt. We see it more as a signal. In this episode, we explore abundance as an indicator of alignment — with values, purpose, and direction —...
How well do you actually know yourself as a leader — under pressure?
What do you do with power when you don’t agree with how it’s being used above you? Most leadership programmes talk about having power.Very few talk about being in relationship with it. In this longer episode, Amber and I explore how leaders wrestle with power —...

A pivotal moment where you felt you were a leader
When did you first feel like a leader — rather than just act like one? There’s often a quiet shift when leadership stops being performative and starts being internal. In this conversation, Amber and I talk about moments when our sense of leadership identity changed —...
A situation where you realised you had to step up and lead
When was the moment you realised: “No one else is going to do this — it’s on me”? Many leaders don’t choose leadership. They’re drafted into it by a moment that doesn’t allow avoidance. In this episode, Amber and I reflect on situations where we were forced to step up...
What item of clothing represents your leadership style?
If your leadership showed up as an item of clothing, what would it be? Not your job title. Not your values statement. Not the version you think you should be wearing. Something you actually reach for — especially when things get uncomfortable. In this short, slightly...
What is The Ramblers’ Guide to Leadership?
It’s a short podcast series by Amber Rahim and Dennis Strik — recorded while walking, talking, and thinking out loud.
We created it because much of the leadership development space is full of shortcuts, slogans, and one-size-fits-all solutions that don’t survive contact with real leadership challenges.
Instead, we’re interested in what actually shapes leaders over time: the inner work, the tensions you carry, the values you live by (or avoid), your relationship to power, and the moments where there’s no script to follow.
These are not “how-to” episodes. No tips. No hacks. No silver bullets.
Just two experienced coaches, walking and rambling their way through what leadership really looks like — on the inside and in practice.
If you’re looking for easy answers, this probably isn’t for you.
If you’re willing to think, reflect, and wrestle a little, welcome along.
